What’s Your Life’s Design?

Today I share some of the basic things I have been doing to design my life for the last several years to have a well-lived, joyful life. Sometimes we just allow life to happen; no real purpose or thought but just go with the flow.

I want you to recognize the importance of designing your life and not allowing the past to determine your future. You need to take control of your life and move forward with a life of purpose.

Every year I do a Best Year Ever exercise to start out the new year so I can live a life of fulfillment.

I’m going to share these techniques with you to remind you to design your life, not just react to it.

Starting out on the right foot, start designing your life!

Start Designing Your Life

You can’t just sit back and complain about the past and your woes, and expect things to change. Start designing your life today don’t allow anything to hold you back, especially excuses.

Write everything you can think about what you want in life, don’t let financial concerns hold you back. Discover what it is in life that will help give it purpose.

Life will continue to happen, so design your life starting today.

My Journey as I Design My Life

I am also going through a journey to create more happiness and live my life more fully.

This is an approach I take and one of the tools I use to change my life. I write my current story to see where I’m at and write a new one based on the categories below.:

Through this process I analyze my life in-depth, so I can design my life in-depth.

The concept behind analyzing my life in more depth helps me to experience what I want, even if it’s just on paper and helps me design my life according to what I want.

There are thousands of people thinking that they have to be reactive to life.

I say, “no.”

Change your thinking and start to live your life according to your design and your plan.

You cannot fail, because there’s no such thing as failure, just expectations that were not met.

I Don’t Know What I Want?

One of the common statements and questions I get and hear is:

“I don’t know what I really want?”

This process I hope is going to help you, like it did me, identify what you want so you can pursue it.

Go to the Facebook Group, “Get to the Roots” and share with others what you are hoping to accomplish this year, so you can start to design your life.

If you still don’t know what you want? Get a collaborative team of designers to help you design your life.

A collaborative team of designers would be those indiividuals who will support and encourage you in your process.

They will hold you accountable like a mentor would.

As you start the life design thinking process, you’ll start to see a purpose and mission in life. 

To avoid a life of drudgery, and to live a happy life, design it.

Live a designed life by a created plan, it starts by writing and letting go of negative emotions.

Top Priority for a Well-Designed Life

The beginning process to a meaningful life, you need to make processing your negative emotions a top priority and change your thinking.

Your negative emotions are holding you back, and you won’t realize how much they are holding you back until you start getting rid of them.

Negative emotions hold on to and contribute to fat, sickness, pains and mental health issues.

You can’t afford to hold on to them.

Trust the process and start processing your negative emotions today, Don’t Wait!

You have held on to them long enough; it’s time to get rid of them and allow growth to take place and have an extraordinary life.

Your morning routine starts out your designed life, what is it?

Morning Routine

If you feel like you have a pathetic life, analyze it.

When you wake up in the morning, what’s is like, what do you do?

  • Do you have a morning routine?
  • Do you roll out of bed and just wished you could get back in?
  • Maybe you wake up to an alarm blaring in your ears and want to throw it through the wall?
  • Sometimes you might want to shoot anyone that gets in your way.or do you wake up and look at life as an opportunity?

It doesn’t matter how you wake up, what are you going to do about it?

Everyone has bad days, and you’re no exception; however, are you going to allow yourself to stay in that negative mood or not?

It’s your choice to have a successful life or not.

Decide What’s Your Intention

I would like to challenge you to start out your day deciding the emotions you want to feel for that day, week, month, and year.

What’s your intention for the day? Create the intention and then live by it.

Do you want to be happy, joyful, energetic, hopeful or some other emotion?

You get to decide and then make it intentional to feel that way.

For example, let’s say you want to feel hopeful throughout the day.

When something comes up that may be frustrating, create feelings of hate or sad, look at it and say, “How can I be hopeful about this?”

Make it an intentional effort to discover hope throughout the day.

Look for things that provide hope and add them to your day, maybe it’s listening to some motivational and inspirational material or spiritual text.

Everyday you have many hours of life, you decide what to do with it.

It’s your day and your emotion that you want to feel.

Stay Focused – Have a Plan

When it comes to sitting down and designing your life there’s no doubt in my mind that you will have all kinds of things come up that will try to knock you off your intention or intended emotion.

Plan your day and determine what kind of day it’s going to be.

The desire to change your life, comes at a cost of letting go of the past and moving forward with the present and future.

You must stay focused and determined that you are going to feel the emotion you chose.

Before you start the day, choose activities that you can do immediately that will help you feel this emotion.

If something try’s to throw you off let them know you’re working on something else and you’ll get to it as soon as you can.

If you’re trying to be hopeful, then I would recommend having some hopeful, inspiring messages to read.

Whatever you decide your action steps are going to be remember you’re an intelligent person and it’s your life.

Have a set plan and work it to the best of your ability.

You’re amazing, rise up to the challenge of processing your emotions and start your day with intention; design your life the way you want it.

Design your life based on your rules and your intention, not the past.

Life happens for you so Design Your Life on your terms.

Still Feeling Stuck in Life?

I remember achieving a goal that I had set a long time ago. This goal was huge and everyone told me:

Good luck on that one. Ha, ya, I said that too.

The negative voices were coming from all angles but I did not give up. I said I would achieve my goal in 5 years, well it took me ten years. The goal doesn’t matter it was what happened after the goal that stumped me until now.

I set a huge goal, a long-term, reach for the stars type of goal. Excited I shared it with everyone, but received negativity the entire time. When I accomplished it, I thought I had arrived. I had accomplished one of my biggest goals ever set.

Now don’t get me wrong, I was extremely excited and grateful but then I said, “Now what?” I finished my big goal now what?

What am I supposed to do now?

I didn’t really know. I didn’t have any other goals in the wings to work on. In a matter of minutes, I went from feeling elation to feeling lost.

I did not realize that my goal was the very thing that was pushing me. The goal was motivating me, inspiring me and as I worked on it, flooded me with excitement. It was gone, the goal was gone so what now.

The more I thought about it, the more I was extremely stuck where I was at. Life was just happening. There wasn’t any direction, there was no focus. The mundane life of waking up, going to work, coming home, eating and repeat started happening.

My finances were doing well but then DBSI, a real estate leader, committed fraud and the industry I was doing marketing for, folded overnight. When I mean folded, it literally collapsed overnight like a building that was being demolished on a hot summer’s day.

Every phone call I answered was a client canceling a job. I didn’t know what to do. I would find a few clients here and there but my marketing firm was never got back to where it was.

I’m Glad I Was Forced Out of My Job

I’m glad that I was forced out of my marketing real estate niche and pushed into a new one, this one, helping people. I never realized how much I loved coaching and mentoring until I started helping people struggling with pornography addiction.

However, with all of that said, it is critical you don’t just sit back and let life happen. You need to take control of your life and design it how you want it. If you don’t, stuck is where you will remain.

Design Your Life

There are three four things to do to design your life and to get out of the stuck place you may be in.

  1. Let Go of the negative emotions that are holding you back. Learn more about how to do this, here.
  2. Power Build – after you let go, start empowering yourself. You are amazing and for you to start realizing it is critical.
  3. Write your, ‘Best Year Ever. You may be wondering what you want in life? This writing exercise will help you identify what you want so you can start to set goals to achieve them.
  4. Set Goals – Now that you know what you want this year to be like, start setting goals to accomplish those things.
