Analyze and Balance Life

I count my blessings continuously as I’ve found balance in life. Recently, I have been analyzing and designing my life in detail, in more detail than I ever have. I have been going through a program to help me balance life, which is intense, walking me through each aspect of my life and causing me to create a premise, vision, purpose and strategy to complete that vision. It’s GREAT!

In my process of creating my book about my life and who I want to become, I identified that I was missing very important parts of my goals.

After doing a deep dive into different categories, I realized how powerful this exercise was and I want to share it with you.

Premise to Balance Life

First you need to know your overarching premise, what’s your belief around the category of life you are analyzing and writing? For example, if we were doing a deep inspection of our health, what is your belief?

Here’s an example of my premise:

“I personally believe that my health affects all aspects of my life and if I have good health my life will be better. I also believe that my health is the foundation to good relationships, business, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness.”

Vision to Balance Life

After you know your premise and what you believe is your baseline, now create your vision around your premise. What does this category of your life look like? What do you want? Who’s part of that vision?

Your vision is critical in developing the person you want to be. Here’s an excerpt of my vision, again using health as the category:

“I am lean, strong, full of energy. I’m ready to help others; My mental and physical strength help me accomplish all of my goals. I crave good, healthy foods that strengthen and heal my body from all illness.”

You can see that my vision helps me to identify what I want in my life and I know I need to make changes to achieve this vision.

Purpose to Balance Life

Now that you have a vision of what you want in the category you’re analyzing, you need to answer the question, “Why?” What’s the purpose for this vision?

If your purpose is not strong enough, you will not be motivated to fulfill it. You will be tested by the Universe, your Higher Power to see if this is what you really want.

You have to show your commitment.

Here’s an excerpt of my purpose for health:

“I want to live a life without assistance, and to maintain my mental and physical health. I want my energy to be high enough I can enjoy time with my kids and grandkids. My purpose is to be happier, a good example to my children and I want my wife to be proud of me.”

tony rhoton

I’m going through the process to break this down even more so my why or purpose is strong enough, I don’t question anything that’s contrary to my vision.

Strategy to Balance Life

Great, you have your premise (or belief) and created a vision and know the reason for that purpose of your vision but now you need to develop a strategy.

Your strategy will be how you accomplish your vision. I’m not talking about a complex plan, or something that seems impossible.

All you need to do is add some basic actions to step towards your vision.

Here’s an excerpt of my strategy for health:

“I will continue to learn and study health and fitness and read up on the basics until I’m comfortable and understand it. I will identify three to five simple things that I can implement in my life daily to improve my health.”

tony rhoton

Your strategy will help you accomplish your vision, this is a gradual process, not an event. It will not change overnight but having a vision is like having a map and will give you the direction you need.

Create a Vision to Balance Life

To balance life, you need to visualize where you want to go so that you can make it a reality.

Take the time today and create your vision with confidence of what you want in one of the three categories:

You’re amazing, believe it!

A Balanced Life is Oblong, Not a Perfect Circle

I love starting my day in the garden. Today, I learned a valuable principle about balance and living a balanced life from my peach tree.

I had a volunteer peach tree start growing in my garden, and as I was looking at it yesterday, I noticed it was out of control, lots of limbs growing everywhere, etc. and now it’s losing its leaves.

How?

I’ve been taking care of it, and it’s growing beautifully.

I’m doing everything I’m supposed to be doing. I’m doing everything to cause this tree to thrive and bloom.

I reached out to a fellow gardener, and he said these words, which sparked this principle,

“It’s too much. There’s too much growth there.”

Balance Life Build a Foundation to Handle Growth

Building an infrastructure to handle growth is critical.

Sometimes we start pursuing our dreams and goals, focusing solely on that dream and nothing else.

Just like my peach tree is starting to shed its leaves because it has not built the foundation that it needs.

We always hear pursue your dreams, go forth, nurture and achieve your dream.

What I didn’t realize is even growth requires balance.

I have another tree that I planted. I’m taking care of it, doing what I’m supposed to nurturing it and it’s thriving.

Even though there have been some pests that have started chewing on the leaves a little bit, it’s thriving. By pruning it, cutting off the branches that it doesn’t need, I’m allowing it to build its infrastructure.

The roots and trunk are growing and strengthening its ability to handle future growth.

I thought I had pruned the peach tree in the front well enough, but I didn’t. It couldn’t handle the growth; it did not have the internal support to handle the new growth.

It was phenomenal how much growth has come on just this year.

Valuable Principle to Have a Balanced Life

“Pursue your dreams, go after your goals and do what you can, but do it with balance. “

Tony Rhoton

If you don’t try to keep things balanced, it’s going to throw other things out of whack and just like that peach tree you’re going to start losing your leaves.

Your leaves could be your health, finances, family, friends, your own sanity.

The more I try to balance life, I’ve realized regular self-care is critical to implement. Sometimes we pursue dreams, and goals to the point where we start to neglect health, children, friends, and family.

You may disguise it as, “I’m doing it for my children so they can have this or that.”

You have to have balance, and it’s through balance that you will find the greatest joy and happiness that your life can offer.

Lacking balance creates frustration, anger, and resentment, It’s not balanced. In my opinion, balance is more elliptical, it doesn’t spin perfectly because life is not perfect.

You Don’t Want Perfect Balance

showing the importance to balance life
Growth occurs as you’re a little off balance, but too far off balance, self destruction.

Every time you things are starting to spin perfectly I guarantee you, something’s going to throw you off balance to keep you growing and progressing.

Since I’ve been talking about finding balance in your life, this is going to sound like I’m contradicting everything I just mentioned.

“You want to be a little off balance.”

What?

Let me explain; when you are coasting, everything is perfect mode, it’s nice but you’re not growing because nothing’s pushing you to the next level or for improvement.

You’re just coasting and sitting back relaxing; everything’s grand. Again, you’re not growing.

As you pursue your dreams and your goals you have to have, ‘oblong’ balance with your family, friends, health, etc.. Your health is the most important thing to keep watch over.

If your health goes down, everything goes spiraling out of control.

If you have all the money and you’ve pursued your dream, and you’ve made millions of dollars, if you can’t do anything with it, it will not matter.

Self Evaluation

Ask yourself these questions as you’re trying to create a balanced life:

You may be a little shaky, or you may be entirely off balance right now, life may be chaotic; whatever it is identify it and do what you can to bring it back into balance, to put it back into its proper role.

As you do this, you’re going to discover greater joy, happiness, passion, and a love of life.

To recap, what’s going on in your life right now? Identify the areas that you need balance in, and get that balance. Make sure self-care is part of your life; recharge and recover, especially after accomplishing your goals.
